Leisurely cruise options from Sawley marina.4 night route map.
All the previous cruises apply, just go up one level. For example, an intermediate four day trip would be a challenging three day trip or an easy four day trip would equate to an intermediate three day trip. For those who enjoy a more challenging regime involving more cruising hours in the day, the choice on the standard routes for the extra day would, at Fradley Junction, involve either :
- Cruising north, Cannock Chase is visible in the distance. This route would mean winding at Handsacre where there is a fish and chip shop, pub and general stores and perhaps returning to Fradley for the evening overnight stop. Lady Godiva's early home is nearby.
- Cruising south toward Tamworth, down the pretty northern section of the Coventry canal. Winding is recommended at Curdworth, just south of Fazeley Junction and adjacent to the Drayton Manor Theme Park. Overnight stop at Hopwas, a pretty village with two canalside pubs
Experienced boaters, cruising the Soar, could extend their trip to Kilby Bridge where there are moorings, water and a winding hole, plus a good pub.
Please note that cruising along the River Soar is weather dependent. In the event of potentially high water levels, you will cruise along the Trent & Mersey canal. The above is intended purely as a 4 night route guide. Cruising times, options and distances are subject to prevailing conditions and personal choice. Please note that the final permitted turning/winding point for our boats in Nottingham is just before Meadow Lane Lock. Cruising eastward on the Trent beyond this point is prohibited in all circumstances.
